The Effects of a Dirty Air Filter

One of the simplest ways to stay on top of energy costs and keep your heating and air system efficient is to change the air filter regularly. Check it monthly, especially during heavy use periods like winter and summer. If it looks dirty after a month, change it. At a minimum, change the air filter every three months to keep dust and dirt from building up in the system, which could lead to expensive repairs or reduce the life of your system. Contact us for even more tips on saving energy with Frigidaire heating and air systems.

The Importance of Airing Out Your House All Year Round

You’re making your home more energy efficient, but what about indoor air quality? The more airtight your home, the harder it is for harmful elements to escape outside. We recommend that you “air out” your home about once a week. In the winter, turn off your heating system and open a few windows while you make a run to the grocery store or take a walk around the neighborhood. In the summer, open windows at night and keep them closed during the heat of the day. We can recommend additional Frigidaire products and practices to improve the air quality of your home. Tips on Setting Your Programmable Thermostat

You have a programmable thermostat, but are you using it properly? Think about when your family wakes up, leaves the house and goes to bed. Then, set your thermostat to change temperature at these times. Realize winter savings by programming your thermostat to drop by eight degrees when you’re away and when you’re sleeping. In the summer, increase the temperature by seven degrees when you’re away and by four degrees when you’re sleeping. And never override your thermostat or place it on hold. Turning the temperature way up or down won’t make your system heat or cool faster, but it will make it work overtime and wreak havoc on your energy bills. Ask us how to optimize your settings during your next Frigidaire pre-season checkup. It could save you as much as $180 a year.
